Police Services in the area are provided by a combination of the Deep River Police Service and the Ontario Provincial Police. The Deep River Police Service consists of eight officers and provides 24 hour a day service in the Town of Deep River. The Town of Laurentian Hills and Townships of Head Clara and Maria receive services from the Ontario Provincial Police. Police services in the area work together frequently and complement each other extremely well. Crime rates in the area are among the lowest in Ontario.

Fire Services are provided in Deep River by a full-time professional fire department. The Deep River Fire Department is comprised of eight full-time firefighters available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The department offers numerous services to the citizens of the Town of Deep River including auto Extrication, fire Suppression and prevention (enforcement and inspections) and a smoke alarm program. Laurentian Hills is proud to have one of the best volunteer fire departments in the province. This group of dedicated people train hard to provide not only fire protection but also educate residents in all matters of public safety. Laurentian Hills and Deep River fire departments often work together to provide excellent combined service for both communities.
